In ASTROBOTANICA, you take the role of Xel - an alien botanist crash-landed on prehistoric Earth, where the atmosphere is hostile, the wildlife unpredictable, and the only way to survive is to utilize the power of plants by farming, harvesting, and experimenting. Set 300,000 years ago during Earth's Pleistocene era, the game swaps combat for cultivation, swords for seeds, and destruction for discovery.
Today's Early Access launch includes all core game systems, including botany, crafting, base building, exploration and puzzle-solving. Players can encounter and befriend primal humans, heal their ailments using custom-made tonics, and earn their trust to unlock tools and building resources. With science-led progression and the freedom to play at your own pace, ASTROBOTANICA offers a relaxed kind of survival experience built around curiosity, experimentation and reward.
"Survival can be a daunting genre, especially for new players, but it doesn't have to be," said Arkadiusz Woźniak, co-founder and game director at Space Goblin Studio. "With Astrobotanica, we set out to create something inviting, where the joy comes from exploration and discovery. Our community has already helped us shape the game so much - from core systems to small details - and we're excited to keep building alongside them as we welcome new players into Early Access."
Space Goblin has also unveiled ASTROBOTANICA's 2026 roadmap today, outlining three major content updates launching this year - including new systems like plant hybridization, fishing, and expanded building and crafting features. Recent improvements shaped by feedback from the game's successful Kickstarter and standout Steam Next Fest demo include a fully redesigned inventory and crafting interface, visual upgrades across the island, expanded primal human interactions, and broad performance optimization, showcased in the new gameplay-focused launch trailer.
The team will continue to develop the game in close collaboration with its community throughout Early Access. With a clear 2026 roadmap, alongside regular patches, refinements and quality of life improvements, ASTROBOTANICA has already laid solid foundations for the year ahead.
ASTROBOTANICA is out now on Steam Early Access. Players can follow the game's development via the Steam Community Hub, join the official Discord to share feedback with the dev team, or explore the companion comic series, Sprout Out!, now available on Webtoons.
